Does Blogging Actually Work To Build Income?

I get asked this question a lot….. “Does Blogging Actually Work To Build Income”?

The first thing I will say is ABSOLUTELY 100% YES….. I am a blogger after all. Why do you think so many people do it?

Blogging is one of the most lucrative industries online in fact and when you realise what it can do for you it is VERY addictive.

First of all you can use a blog to promote ANYTHING you want. It could be a specific site that you want to build, it could be 100 different sites, or 1000 if you wish, it could be affiliate offers, it could be crafts or computers or photography or parent classes. The list is endless. You can literally write about any topic and use that blog to help you make money online.

There are a few BUT’s however, because it depends mostly on how you monetise the things you write about.

If you have no links that go to income generating sites you won’t earn as much as when you do. There are ways to monetise any content even without links included too, but that gets a bit more technical – when you learn about blogging the sky really is the limit. There are MANY things you can do with a blog that you probably have never even considered.

How To Start A Blog?

The first step is to make a decision about the topic you want to write about. Lets just say you want to write a blog that focuses on working online like this one does. What next?

The next step in my opinion is to think about what your first blog post will be about. Now I know that is tough for lots of people……so let me guide you on what I would do:

Think about what your own goal is first of all. Is it to earn a specific amount? Is it to give up work and do this full-time? Is it to pay off a debt? To buy a car? Yes it could be all of those things and many more too but try to focus in on your MAIN motivation. Close your eyes and imagine the life that you want – what is the first thing that pops into your head? THAT is your main motivation right now. THAT is what you should write about in your first blog post.

Now imagine that you are writing a letter to a friend….. lets see how that goes:

Dear Friend….. I was just sitting here thinking about my life and what I want to achieve. The main thing that popped into my head was _________ and I would love to achieve that. I am not really sure how to do it but I have decided to write about my attempts to reach this goal in a blog.

The first thing that I need to do is to start earning some money. I have already started working on that and I have given myself a target of earning ???? today. To do that I will use ________ site and I will try out using the ______ section of this site.

When I tried this out today I was able to earn ?????

How did I do it?

Well first I did XXX then I did XXX

Its just the first step, but I feel good knowing that I took it. Now I just need to keep working on that goal.

THAT is the basis of your first blog post. Just talk about what you want to achieve and how you are going to begin. When you have taken that step write down the results that you got.

You see a blog is about YOUR journey toward a specific goal. The first blog I ever wrote was about me trying to find a way to pay off my debt of £20,000+. This blog is about me working on earning 1 million dollars. I might have more experience to share now but the basis of each blog is the same: To write about things that I do to reach my goal.

It is like a journal of progress….. today I did this, tomorrow I will do that.

Try writing that letter to your friend today (you don’t have to send it). When you have written it then you will be ready for the next step.

You just need to open a blogging account next. I use Global Domains International for mine…..feel free to click on that link to join. It costs $10 a month but you get 7 days free to try it out before you start paying.

If you want step by step guidance on the registration process you can find that in my post: How To Start A Blog That Earns Daily Cash.

If you prefer I can set up a new blog for you and I can write the first few posts to help you get started too. Check out My Blog Creation Service for details of that.

In my next post I will talk about promoting your blog and how to build your audience….. You are going to need readers for your blog to succeed.
